Last Sunday we held a very special event at our favorite cafe, Sweedeedee. Eloise and I had the idea when we were camping earlier this summer in Eastern Oregon. The stillness of that landscape and the quiet days reminded us how important it is to slow down. Having both lived rurally in the past, we missed those community gatherings celebrating the shift in seasons with a shared meal. We both love to cook, and wanted the opportunity to create a healthy meal focusing on tonic herbs and seasonal foods. We also wanted the space to celebrate and share a little magic around the Autumn Equinox. We asked our good friend Brandie, of Magic Hour Astrology if she would also contribute to the evening. We were excited for her to share some wisdom around the Moon and its influence, especially New Moon energy and intention setting- we have found this to be such a powerful tool! We had so much fun gathering ingredients for the event. From freshly milled local flour (thank you Tabor Bread) to beautiful produce from Groundworks and Persephone Farms, it was wonderful to feel the abundance of the harvest season. We went out to Sauvie Island to gather rosehips and hawthorne berries, as well as a stop at the u-pick flower farm for marigolds which we strung into long garlands. This collaboration really inspired both of us and we hope to offer more dinners in the near future! Thank you to all who attended!
